 The main garden is the middle garden. Two sections are relevant.  First the area in the middle where the big trees especially the fruit trees are planted. Second, there is the area next to the car porch planted with palms, flowering shrubs and covers.
The heliconia species are doing well and top on the list are the Heliconia latispatha and Red Lobster's Claw.
The main garden is a place of shade and also a burning spot.
The Staghorn fern is doing well, so are the Ivora shrubs.

Progress of Back Garden in May, 2020.

Back garden as at 24 May,2020.

 The works at improving the back garden has been done gradually over the extended holidays due to the COVID-19 lockdown. There is plenty of time.
One interesting feature is the use of small boulders around the planting beds.  These boulders are moved from other places in the garden.
I intend to plant more vegetables inside the planting beds at the back garden e.g. Kangkong, Cekur Manis and some useful herbs like Serai.

The garden on first day of Raya

On this first day of Raya (24th May), the mood is quiet. Very much missing my cucu and children who are celebrating in Bintulu, Kuala Lumpur and Sibu. It's just the two of us in Kuching.
For the next few days till the lockdown is lifted will try to make the best of times to reflect upon the uncertain future or business unusual days ahead.
Meanwhile, if bored there's the bicycle to ride around the garden and plants to care.

Red Golden Penda

 It has been a long time since I have not updated stories and pictures about the Kuching garden. Being locked-down in Kuching due to the Covid-19 pandemic, my holiday time in Kuching is naturally extended. Today is the 39th day of staying at home in Kuching.  However, looking at the positive side this staying at home phenomena has given me time to take care of the garden.  This gardening activity makes staying at home a lot more bearable.
Today I'm trying to trim some climbers and small flowering shrubs that have grown pretty wild.  I will have more time to blog about the Kuching garden later.  This first posting  focus is on the Red Golden Penda ( Xanthostemma chryanthus).
